Anubis Mask, October 2004 (Sculpture)

Kira wanted to be Anubis for Halloween 2004, so she and I made a papier-mache mask (cardboard, newspaper, wallpaper paste), spraypainted it with black enamel, and did the detailing in gold metallic acrylic. This wound up being a quick-and-dirty project due to some materials issues we ran into (we'd originally been using a poorly-marked shellac from the art-supply store, which turned out to be NON-WATER-SOLUBLE -- Kira and I had to use solvent and a lot of scrubbing to get it off our hands!), so we finished it at the last minute, and it's not as neat and perfect as it could be . . . but it worked a charm and the costume was a hit!!
