we are dancing that dance again,
falling with relentless grace,
always to die that fiery death
under the stare of the malevolent stars.
Oh, what small eyes they have,
these little betrayers
that we again and again
fire the arrows of our hearts at,
that we burn ourselves for with the brands of hope.
If only we could unravel
those complexities of flesh
pick apart that veined tapestry named love
we could be free from these bones that make us whole
and reach the betrayers,
and feed them their lies.
